About

The Spirit of Houston Conference
The Spirit of Houston Conference is a very loosely formed organization whose purpose is basically to finance, organize, and put on an annual three-day conference on one weekend in November. The 2014 conference will be held at the Omni Houston Hotel at Westside Nov 21st-23rd. The annual conference, secondary events, committee meetings, and the fellowship that results hopefully support our primary purpose.

Events

Several events are held throughout the year mainly to encourage participation in the conference. Funds collected at these events ensure that those unable to pay will never be turned away. Events usually begin with various activities (games, cake auction, whatever), followed by a speaker. These events are intended to generate interest in our upcoming conference and also to be opportunities for fun and fellowship.

Committee Meetings

The Spirit of Houston committee holds monthly committee meetings where the conference and supporting events are discussed and planned. These meetings usually occur on the first Saturday of the month at 10am at 8373 Westview. Everyone is welcome to attend these committee meetings and participate, but special positions (chairs) are elected to oversee and be responsible for various duties. Business meetings usually includes progress reports from the various chairs as well as discussion and election of new chairs as they are needed.

The Conference

The end result of the planning and scholarship drive efforts throughout the year is our annual conference. The conference takes place in a hotel on a weekend in November, starting on Friday afternoon and wrapping up that Sunday morning. Speakers are flown in from out of town and there are lots of activities and meetings.
